From Concept to DC Prosumer Home

Second Grid based on Current/OS

This pioneering project renovating the Stokman's home to a full DC Prosumer Home is based on Harry Stokman's concept of a Second Grid based on Current/OS 350V/700V/1400V DC system.

DC pioneer pur sang Harry Stokman has been a DC entrepreneur since 1988, developing and building rectifiers for clients worldwide for more than 35 years. In 2009, he started a company to research and develop his vision and concept of Current/OS based 350V/700V/1400V DC system with the integrated Current Router, a solid-state protection.

A DC grid on a 350V DC system will be installed instead of the traditional AC. All users, such as electronic devices, heating, solar panels, batteries, and EV will be plugged in directly to the 350V/700V/1400V DC system  .

Current/OS also incorporates safety against short circuits managed by the Current Router device. The safety standard meets the Dutch NEN1010 and the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards.

Applications on DC will be readily available, as manufacturers have been working on developing products to be compatible with Current/OS 350V/700V/1400V DC system.

USB-C/A 100W sockets

Instead of the traditional AC sockets, there will be standard wall mounted USB-C sockets up to 20V 5A (100W) which are Current/OS  350V/700V/1400V DC System  compatible.

We will also run some applications on 48V, such as the lighting and the cooling pump. There'll be a few AC sockets for legacy devices. In our DC Prosumer Home, DC rules and AC is an option!

92 solar panels on the rooftop will charge the batteries and provide ample energy to be energy neutral. More information on this will be posted.

The DC system based on operating system Current/OS is self-sufficient managed.  No IT is needed to monitor or manage the applications, so the DC system is non-hackable and secure.
